Everyone has worked hard to get our debut concert primed and ready. Our last rehearsal went well, despite there being a nice features reporter from the local TV station (WAFB). His segment, “Tumey’s Travels,” finds the unusual, the quirky and the odd, all of which apply to us. But that’s okay, we like the attention.
Tomorrow will be a full day. Move in at 9, lights at 10:30, rehearsals from 11:30 – 6:00, break for dinner and then its show time. I’m hoping for a good crowd, and our Facebook page shows over 50 people attending. Of course, we know that no more than 50% will actually show up. But still it would be good. On the other hand, the hall holds 400+ people, so even a good crowd of 100 will look small. Alas.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you come. Laptop Orchestra of Louisiana (the LOLs) debut concert. Wednesday April 14, at 8:00 PM. Shaver Theatre, in the Music & Dramatic Arts Building at LSU, corner of Dalrymple and Infirmary Roads. Tickets are $10, $5 for students, and available at http://www.music.lsu.edu.
The program includes music by Nick Hwang, Jeff Albert, Jeff Lipscomb, Stephen David Beck, and Ge Wang, with new renditions of music by Thea Musgrave and John Cage. We’ll have pics and video (hopefully) up soon after the concert for those who cannot make it, and for our own documentation.
Hope to see you there.
